One grows into a woman, with a certain self-image. That is, you are convinced to be done in a way, because then you have raised your parents, because your value system identifies you in a certain way, because you always thought like that. So you know, as you describe, so you're sure to be.
But then alive, still living, and if you stop to think and look outside, you realize that the choices you made in life do not speak of the person you think you are. They speak of another, done in another way, with other priorities and other system values. At that point, if you're smart and do not want to risk an emotional suicide, you stop for a second and you wonder if you are what you see or what you thought. If you are what you thought then you're in trouble, because the road you have taken is yours and start over is tough. If you're the one you see ... girl, you were short-sighted but fortunately by the grace or something because your heart has driven down the river over the rapids of life, exactly where you had to go.
And with this awareness we can face any storm.
